“For many years, when I “officed” at various independent coffee shops in Chicago, I used my computer lock on a daily basis. A computer lock is what it sounds like, a bike lock for a computer, with a metal nub on one end that you can insert into a computer to lock it to a chair or desk. If I had to step away to, y’know, take care of business, I had to leave my computer unattended and worry about it getting stolen.
I haven’t used my computer lock since early 2017.
That’s when I joined Second Shift, a co-working space in Chicago opened by collaboration experts Levi Baer and Nicole Vazquez.”
